Mackerel Balls in Sweet Spicy Sauce
Take a break from your usual meat balls and try out this Mackerel Balls recipe which makes up to 40 tasty balls! Paired with a yummy sweet and spicy sauce, this healthier alternative is definitely perfect for lunch, dinner, or any just about any meal you can think of!

Ingredients:
1 can x 425g SABA Mackerel in Natural Oil
1 pc Egg
1/4 cup Cornstarch
1 pc Onion, finely chopped
1 pc Carrots, finely chopped
1/4 tsp Black pepper
1/8 tsp Salt
Cooking Oil for Frying
Sweet Spicy Sauce
1 cup Water
1 Tbsp Cane Vinegar
5 Tbsp Brown Sugar
3 Tbsp Soy Sauce
3 cloves Garlic, minced
1/8 tsp Iodized Salt
1/8 tsp Black Pepper
1 pc Red Cayenne, chopped Pepper
1 to 1 ½ Tbsp Cornstarch
Procedure:
1. Open the can of SABA Mackerel in Natural Oil. Drain. Transfer mackerel in a bowl and finely flake it.
2. Add egg, cornstarch, onion, carrots, salt, and pepper. Mix very well.
3. Scoop ½ to 1 tbsp of mackerel mixture and form into balls. Repeat procedure for the rest of the mixture.
4. Heat oil for frying. When hot enough, drop each ball and cook until brown. Drain excess oil in paper towels.
5. To prepare the sauce, combine all ingredients in a saucepan and simmer until thick.
6. Serve fish balls with the sauce.
