Ingredients:
1 can x 425g SABA Squid in Soy Sauce
3 Tbsp Cooking oil
3 cloves Garlic, chopped
1 pc White onion, small, sliced thinly
1 block Chinese tofu, cubed and fried
1 cup Water
¼ cup Hoisin sauce
1 tsp Sesame seeds, toasted, plus more for garnish
¼ tsp Salt
¼ tsp Ground black pepper
1 to 2 Tbsp Cornstarch, dissolved in 3 Tbsp water
¼ cup Spring onions, minced, for garnish
Procedure:
1. Open the can of SABA Squid in Soy Sauce, separate the squid from the soy sauce and place them in individual bowls. Do not discard the sauce. Slice the squid into rings according to desired thickness. Set aside.
2. Heat oil in a pan. Sauté garlic, onion, and chopped squid for a few minutes. Toss in fried tofu until heated through. Transfer squid with tofu in a bowl. Divide into 2 portions. Set aside.
3. To the same pan, add water, hoisin sauce, reserved “soy sauce”, sesame seeds and cornstarch. Simmer until sauce thickens. Season with salt and black pepper before turning off the heat.
4. Heat sizzling plate until hot. Add one portion of sautéed squid with tofu and pour about 1 cup of the sauce. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and spring onions. Do the same for the other sizzling plate.
5. Serve while sizzling hot.
